Forty-nine Cornell faculty have joined us so far this year, bringing the total number of ACSF faculty fellows to 451. Representing eight colleges and institutes and 28 departments, our newest faculty fellows connect ACSF with innovative sustainability research across Cornell.

The new fellows include a geophysicist studying earth source heating, a biofuels plant scientist, an acoustic ecologist who listens to elephants, and a literary theorist making connections between Enlightenment-era poetry and life sciences. The fellows are active in a broad cross-section of ACSF programs, including our new faculty-in-residence fellowship, Academic Venture Fund and Rapid Response Fund research grants, CARE-Cornell Impact through Innovation Fund projects, and topical lunches.

The Atkinson Center welcomed new and returning faculty fellows and postdoc and student research fellows at the fourth annual ACSF fellows celebration, held at the Lab of Ornithology on August 27. The evening featured a presentation by faculty director of energy Todd Cowen on renewal energy initiatives, music by members of the Cornell University Jazz Ensemble, and a caption contest.
