How can we take desperately needed action on climate change to safeguard a better future—without creating more injustice today?

Economist Ravi Kanbur is a member of the High Level Advisory Committee of the Climate Justice Dialogue, an initiative launched by the World Resource Institute, a Washington-based NGO, and the Mary Robinson Foundation–Climate Justice. In a recent video and paper, Kanbur mounts a strong case for climate justice. “We need to ensure both justice between the generations and justice in our time,” he says.

Urgent but carefully planned interventions against climate change—justice for the future—can succeed without harming today’s poorest and most vulnerable people. The key is sharing equitably both the burdens of climate change and the benefits of its resolution.
