Arts + Sciences / Romance Studies (PROF)
Karen Pinkus is a professor of Italian and comparative literature in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is also a minor field graduate in studio art. She serves on the Faculty Advisory Board of the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability. For at least a decade, Karen has been working between Italian studies and environmental humanities with a focus on climate change. At times these two areas come together, as in a series of talks that she is giving on the relation between Italy – the nation-state that exists on the surface – and the subsurface, with its own borders, subsidences, disturbances, and discontinuities.
