Your Engagement with the Atkinson Center
Unique among academic institutions, we unite the “three Es”—energy, environment, and economic development—in one research center devoted to finding integrated, practical solutions to vexing world challenges.
We link to the outside world, through external partners, to speed delivery of great ideas to the places where they can be tested and used.
Your financial support for the Atkinson Center can help fund research seed grants to launch innovation in our focus areas, including energy transitions, “one health,” and sustainable agriculture. Or you can directly support students by contributing to our exciting summer internship program, where we embed undergraduates with nationwide organizations, such as Environmental Defense Fund and Oceana so that they can get hands-on work experience at our nation’s top environmental groups.
This vital funding deploys teams of faculty and students to work on local or global issues, often with social scientists or humanists working side by side with physical or biological scientists and engineers. Your gifts will further our efforts with world-class external collaborators, such as CARE and the Smithsonian Institution, to create economic opportunity and healthy people, smart energy choices, and a flourishing, diverse environment.
