Carpenter-Everett Family Topical Lunches

* Cornell Roundtable on Environmental Studies (CREST)

CREST brings together Cornell faculty and graduate students committed to interdisciplinary environmental studies.   Complex environmental issues can best be understood through familiarity with diverse perspectives--including those of the humanities, arts, social sciences, natural sciences, physical sciences, and, well, every other kind of science. We strive to foster open communication, close collaboration, and new thinking about the ways in which our "green" scholarly pursuits relate to our teaching and our political commitments. CREST is co-sponsored by the Atkinson Center.

A popular Atkinson Center program, Topical Lunches bring together faculty and researchers from across campus in an informal setting to discuss coordinating major grants, to "test the waters" for future collaborations, to introduce new faculty to the sustainability community, and to explore emerging concepts with diverse faculty audiences. A key strength of Topical Lunches is the kind of unconstrained dialogue among faculty that leads to rich and wide-ranging discussions.

Topical lunches are also used to engage visiting scholars or guests  in a less formal setting to allow for a free-flow of conversation.

To organize or RSVP for a lunch, contact Gladys Brangman.

Our Topical Lunch program is sponsored by a generous gift from the Carpenter-Everett Family.
