Speedy Test for Bacteria in Beach Water

Ruth Richardson and others have developed a new, faster test to determine whether bacteria are present in beach water. Beaches have to close when bacteria levels in the water are too high, but the current test takes 24 hours, leaving swimmers at risk in the meantime.
