Buz Barstow

Return to COP26 Delegation
Attending Week 1

Buz Barstow is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. His research focuses on the problem of biological energy capture: the primary bottleneck in the conversion of sustainable energy to fuel. We study energy capture in microbes by applying physical principles, genetic engineering, and novel high-throughput methods. View more about his research on YouTube and in Embracing Biological Solutions to the Sustainable Energy Challenge from Chem Journal (Volume 2, Issue 1, 12 January 2017, Pages 20-51).

Areas of Expertise: Energy, Rare Earth Elements

Associated SDGs: Affordable and Clean Energy (7), Sustainable Cities and Communities (11), Responsible Consumption and Production (12), Climate Action (13)
