Jennifer Haverkamp

Jennifer Haverkamp is the Graham Family Director of the Graham Sustainability Institute at the University of Michigan. She is an experienced senior executive and internationally recognized expert on climate change, international trade, and global environmental policy and negotiations. Ms. Haverkamp served as the Obama Administration’s Ambassador and Special Representative for Environment and Water Resources in the U.S. Department of State. In 2016 she led the Department’s successful negotiations of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol to phase down the use of hydrofluorocarbons—potentially avoiding up to half a degree Centigrade of global warming—and the International Civil Aviation Organization’s landmark agreement to control global greenhouse emissions from international flights. Previously, Ms. Haverkamp directed Environmental Defense Fund‘s International Climate Program and spent nearly a decade as the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Environment and Natural Resources in the Executive Office of the President. She also served as an Executive in Residence at Cornell Atkinson.
